The power pack must be charged before first use. A complete charge takes approximately 3.5 hours. When charging, connect the charger to the port first, then plug the charger into wall outlet.

The soft roller is removable for maintenance. Slide Eject Roller button forward. Remove Soft Roller by pulling the roller out and to the right.
Tap loose debris off the Soft Roller. Use a dry towel to wipe clean, or to remove any hair or fibers caught in the teeth behind the Soft Roller. Wash as needed. Use ONLY water, and let air-dry completely for at least 24 hours.

There are two ways to attach the accessories: to the handle or to the extension wand. Either detach the handle from the vacuum by pulling up on the Handle Release trigger or detach the wand by pressing the Wand Release button and then pull up on the wand. Choose the desired cleaning accessory and slide it onto the end of the handle of the vacuum or the end of the wand. Note that the accessories do not need to be pushed all the way onto the vacuum to be secure. Only the Deep-Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool clicks into place. To remove the Deep-Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool from the handle, pull the Handle Release trigger and separate the accessory from the handle. To remove the Deep-Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool from the wand, push the Wand Release button and separate the accessory from the wand.

The ION Power Core battery is a 28.8-volt removable, rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack.
To insert the ION Power Core battery, slide the battery into the opening in the vacuum pod with the handle toward the back and push down until you hear a click. To ensure proper insertion, the handle on the battery must be down. To remove the ION Power Core battery, lift the handle on the top of the battery and pull up.
The lights on the ION Power Core battery serve multiple purposes. One purpose is to show the remaining charge in your battery while in use. The lights will also blink and illuminate steadily to show the status of charge while charging. In addition, the first and third indicator light will alternate flashing when the battery temperature is not optimal.
You can charge your ION Power Core battery by using a Shark ION Power Core charger along with accessories such as the ION Power Core Charging cradle or the Charge & Go Dock. Please note that only Shark chargers should be used to charge an ION Power Core battery. Consult your Owner's Guide for approved models.
Your ION Power Core battery should take approximately 3.5 hours to reach a full charge.
The ION Power Core battery, like all lithium-ion products, will naturally decrease in capacity over time from the 100% capacity of a new battery. The battery life expectancy is at least two years and comes with a two-year limited warranty. Upon product registration, your purchase is recorded. The call center agents can review if your battery is under warranty.

The Shark ION P50 Cordless Powered Lift-Away has two floor settings for cleaning " a bare floor/area rug setting and a carpet setting. To activate the brushrolls in either mode, tilt the handle back while gently stepping on the floor nozzle. Note that the headlights will illuminate any time the power is on and the brushroll is spinning. The Shark ION P50 also has two power settings: ION POWER and ION BOOST. Use ION POWER setting for your everyday cleaning and switch to ION BOOST if you need a bit more suction for a small mess.

Pull the Handle Release trigger on the handle to separate the handle from the wand. Attach desired accessory and begin cleaning.
Press the Wand Release button on the back of the wand. Once pressed, the button will remain in the unlocked position. Gently pull up on the handle to separate the wand from the vacuum. Attach desired accessory to the end of the wand and begin cleaning. To replace, simply guide the wand back into position behind the pod and press down until you hear a click.
Cordless Powered Lift-Away enables three powerful ways to vacuum: Upright, Stick, and Handheld. To convert from Upright to Stick mode, press the Lift Away button on the top of the vacuum pod and pull up on the pod handle to remove the pod. This mode can be used to clean under furniture and in tight spaces. To convert from Stick mode to Handheld, press the Wand Release button to remove the handle and extension wand or pull up on the Handle Release trigger to remove just the handle. This mode can be used to clean your stairs, car, and other hard-to-reach areas.
To remove the dust cup from the pod, pinch and slide the side tabs toward you. Tilt dust cup forward, then lift to remove. Note that the dust cup should be emptied each time you vacuum and periodically during cleaning, when the dust cup appears full.
Hold the dust cup by the handle over the trash, and with your other hand press the bottom door release button on the front of the unit. Tap gently to empty contents. Press the door shut again until it clicks. If needed, turn the dust cup upside down over the trash and press the top door release button. Tap gently to remove contents or wipe clean with a soft cloth. For optimal performance, the dust cup should be emptied each time you vacuum and periodically during cleaning, when the dust cup appears full.

Between washings, tap filters clean over the trash to remove excess dust and other particles. - Pre-Motor Foam and Felt Filters: Under normal usage, rinse and let air-dry completely (for at least 24 hours) once a month. - Post-Motor Filter (HEPA Filter): Under normal usage, rinse and air-dry completely (for at least 24 hours) once every 12 months or as needed.
Before performing any maintenance on your filters, remove the battery from the vacuum. The pre-motor filters are located on the right side of the vacuum pod. Slide down the filter door release button and lift off the filter door. Remove filter from pod by pulling on the Pull tabs on the filter frame. Pull foam filter off the filter frame to separate the foam and felt filters. Rinse both filters with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. DO NOT use soap. Let filters air-dry completely (at least 24 hours) before reinstalling. DO NOT place filters in the dishwasher or washing machine. Once completely dry, slide the foam filter back onto the filter frame. While holding the tabs on the filter frame, slide the filter back into the pod to secure in place (you will not hear a click). Reinsert the bottom of the filter door into slots on the pod and press door into place until you hear a click.

Pull up on the HEPA filter to remove. Note that there is a tight seal around the HEPA filter and some force may be required to remove the filter from the pod. Rinse the filter with lukewarm water until the water runs clear. DO NOT use soap. DO NOT scrub HEPA filter. Let filter air-dry completely (at least 24 hours) before reinstalling. DO NOT place filter in the dishwasher or washing machine. Once completely dry, reinsert the HEPA filter and press down until it clicks into place.
Filters may need to be cleaned if the vacuum is not picking up dirt, airflow is restricted, or you notice lighter or no suction. To maintain optimal performance, tap filters clean periodically and wash them according to the regular cleaning schedule to maintain optimal performance.
